New ideas for Radio
(subheading) New ideas for Radio (or old ideas for Radio, done in new ways (or or old ideas for Radio done in the same old ways, because thats just what happens sometimes).
Why (statement not question)
A way of
tricking myself into thinking i have talent showing the ideas (half baked or fulla jam), that I & people I know have come up with, using the battered, forgotten, rotting, dead bear of a medium, Radio.
“…battered, forgotten, rotting, dead bear of a medium…”, words often said of Radio.
In a country dominated by Commercial Music Radio, Radio Drama, Documentary, and performance based productions only get their fair share of air play via the Public Service (BBC Radio), but the Castle often plays it safe when it comes to what gets played. Community Radio picks up the slack somewhat when it comes to creative scheduling, but it often suffers from a lack of talent (or at least full time talent) to produce these kinds of shows on a regular basis. Thats not to say Community Radio has no talent (an extreamly unfair statement reguarly targeted at Community Stations, which I’ll expand on another day), but in order to change the face and perceptions of a station, these creative & new ideas have to be regularly scheduled. ‘One-off’s’ and ‘now and agains’ are good maybe for the individual involved in the productions, but from a stations point of view, it adds nothing.
With all this in mind, I’m fucked. It’s often said that “‘One-off’s’ and ‘now and agains’ are good maybe for the individual involved in the productions, but from a stations point of view, it adds nothing”, unfortunately this kind of sums me up.
Therefore ideas need a home. Somewhere to sit and wait, longing to be developed. If not by me then by someone/thing else.
So what follows this is a list of every idea, complteted or otherwise.
